The Heritage Museum of Montgomery County Texas, is a great place for anyone interested about the county’s historical past. The structure was built from a hand-hewn log cottage, which was moved several more times before being donated by Conroe to the city in 1972. Conroe’s historic buildings are no more part of the local landscape

Conroe’s landscape was once home to historic buildings. Conroe Mill School and Conroe Normal and Industrial College, both built in late 1800s. Both schools served the African American community. The historic Grogan–Cochran House is home to Montgomery County’s Heritage Museum. The museum houses artifacts, as well as old photographs of the region. Other sites in the city include the Strake-Gray Oilfield House and the Roughneck Bunkhouse.
